He was honored in the ‘In Memoriam’ segment at the award ceremony. Lee Sun Kyun’s role in the movie ‘Parasite’ (directed by Bong Joon-ho) was featured in the ‘In Memoriam’ video. The tribute lasted for approximately 4 minutes on screen.

The Parasite actor passed away on December 27 last year. He was being looked into by the police for possible drug use. The police called him in for questioning three times and conducted a thorough investigation.
The authorities couldn’t find any evidence against him, both the basic test and the detailed analysis from the National Institute of Forensic Science came back negative. However, the investigation continued based on Mr. K’s statement.
Lastly, it was also speculated that there might have been a media stunt involved. A TV station aired news about the police investigation claiming that “Lee Sun Kyun had snorted sleeping pills” the day before his passing.
