NewJeans is set to make a splash in the Japanese music scene with their upcoming single, Supernatural.
On May 1, the highly anticipated music video teaser for Right Now dropped, and it’s a visual feast thanks to a collaboration with world-renowned artist Takashi Murakami.
Right Now is part of the Japanese debut single Supernatural, set to be released on June 21.
The teaser starts with members of NewJeans embarking on a quest to find the elixir of love and come across the ‘rainbow flower’, exhibiting supernatural abilities.
Takashi Murakami’s iconic ‘Rainbow Flower’ artwork made a lasting impression despite its brief appearance at the end of the teaser.
Takashi Murakami, a contemporary and pop artist in Japan, is widely recognized for his collaborations with fashion labels and international pop icons like Billie Eilish.
The upcoming collaboration between the NewJeans, who have redefined traditional K-pop standards, and Takashi Murakami has generated significant excitement among fans.
NewJeans’ Japanese debut single Supernatural has four tracks, including the title track Supernatural, the b-side Right Now, and instrumental versions of each song.
With this being their first Japanese album, fans are eager to see how it will differ from the Korean albums the group have previously released. The teaser featuring the instrumental of Right Now hints at the continuation of NewJeans’ distinctive and refined style.
Pre-orders for the single, Supernatural will commence at 11 AM on May 10.
