Despite debuting at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and breaking multiple records, the song was largely absent from the airwaves.

In an interview on May 24, the songwriter Jon Bellion behind the hit, Seven, behind the hit single opened up about the lack of support from American radio. He co-wrote other songs for the BTS vocalist including Standing Next To You, Somebody, and Seven.

"I've worked on a Jungkook record for Jungkook..the fastest song to a billion streams in the history of music streaming & because the callouts at radio werent that positve they just DIDN'T PUSH the song at american radio." – Jon Bellion, songwriter Seven

He revealed the shocking truth behind the song’s absence from American radio stations despite being a huge hit, saying, “I’ve worked on a Jungkook record for Jungkook, the fastest song to a billion streams in the history of music streaming and because the callouts at radio weren’t that positive,” and added, “They just didn’t push the song ar American radio.”

He did not just stop there and dished some more shocking details, expressing, “Someone in the country is listening to the song but when a guy at Z100 or a program director or whatever why they chose not slip into the rotation or whos they’re not friend with the guy at the label say “we don’t do payola but if your artist comes at my ‘jingle jam 97’ I’ll think about putting on the record.”

Fans are admiring Jon Bellion boldly calling out these radio stations for not giving Seven the support he believes it deserves.

Lastly, Jungkook released his digital single Seven in July and the song continues to break record even nearly a year after its release.
