ADOR has denied allegations made by Shin Woo Seok, the head of the Dolphin Kidnapping Group. He claimed that the agency asked him to delete his work related to the K-pop group NewJeans. Shin Woo Seok had directed music videos for New Jeans’ hits like Ditto and ETA.
ADOR released a statement on the 3rd, refuting Shin’s claims, “The director’s cut of the ETA music video posted on Dolphin Kidnappers’ social media channel contains parts that were in dispute with the advertiser in the past and were posted without consultation.
Additionally, the copyright for NewJeans’ music video and all related works belongs to ADOR under the contract between ADOR and Dolphin Kidnappers, so the ETA music video and its edited version (including the director’s cut) should be posted on our official channel to protect the artist’s rights.”
They further addressed the claims of requesting deletion of NewJeans-related content, “We requested that Dolphin Kidnappers stop posting the director’s cut video, but we did not request the deletion or upload stoppage of all videos related to NewJeans, including the Ban Heesoo channel. Our channel operation policy has not changed either.”
Lastly, the label stated, “However, Director Shin Woo Seok of Dolphin Kidnappers is spreading false information that ADOR requested the deletion of all videos related to NewJeans.
We would like to inform you that Director Shin’s claim is significantly different from the facts, and we express strong regret over Dolphin Kidnappers’ breach of contract and the spread of false information. We will take the best measures to upload the deleted NewJeans content to our official channel in the future.”
On another note, ADOR removed Min Hee Jin from her role as CEO on August 27 and appointed Kim Joo Young, an existing director, as her successor.
Min alleged that her dismissal as CEO of ADOR was unilateral and revealed that her contract to produce music for NewJeans is only for a two-month period
