ADOR has issued an official statement following the recent court decision that rejected NewJeans’ appeal against their activity restrictions. The court rejected their appeal on Tuesday, June 17, 2025.
The Seoul High Court’s 25-2 Civil Affairs Division ruled in favor of ADOR. They dismissed the appeal filed by NewJeans members against the agency’s decision to restrict them from signing advertising contracts and other activities.
On June 18, the label released a statement to share their official response to the court’s decision. They expressed their gratitude for the court’s judgment and urged NewJeans to return and resume activities once again.

Earlier, the court had granted ADOR’s request to maintain its status as the group’s agency and prevent the members from signing individual advertising deals. While NewJeans members filed objections and appeals hoping to overturn this decision, the court has reaffirmed its original ruling.
This means NewJeans cannot pursue any independent activities until the final outcome of the main lawsuit is determined. The consequences for violating this order are severe—each member would face penalties of up to 1 billion won per violation. Essentially, the group’s options are limited: they can either return to working under ADOR or remain inactive until the legal process concludes.
ADOR has expressed willingness to resolve the conflict, stating they believe an agreement could be reached once the court makes its final decision. However, NewJeans’ legal team has made it clear that reconciliation seems unlikely, emphasizing that the “trust between both parties has already been broken.”
Meanwhile, the third trial for the main lawsuit filed by ADOR against NewJeans will be held on July 24.
