NewJeans gave HYBE until today, September 25, to reinstate Min Hee Jin as CEO!
Today, ADOR and former CEO Min’s legal representatives shared a statement regarding the shareholders’ meeting and her response to the denial.
ADOR Rejects Min Hee Jin’s Reinstatement as a CEO
On September 25, ADOR announced that it had decided to reappoint Director Min Hee Jin as an inside director at today’s extraordinary general meeting.
Additionally, NewJeans’ management agency emphasized that it had already proposed to Director Min Hee Jin on September 11 to take charge of NewJeans’ production for the next 5 years, which is the entire remaining contract period with NewJeans.
Previously, Min revealed that her contract to produce for NewJeans was for two months only, valid till November.
However, ADOR’s board of directors discussed that, as of now, they cannot accept the demand for her reinstatement as a CEO.
The label further shared that since the basic guarantees have been made regarding Min Hee Jin’s position as the producing PD for NewJeans, its duration, and authority, it is expected that negotiations will take place on specific conditions in the future.
The label stated that they have addressed NewJeans members’ concerns via email, providing detailed responses to their inquiries.
Min Hee Jin Responds to ADOR’s Rejection
The law firm representing Min Hee Jin swiftly responded to the ADOR’s decision with an official statement.
Her legal representative stated, “Since the appointment of inside directors is decided by the major shareholder, HYBE, we cannot know at this point whether Min Hee Jin will be reappointed.”
Regarding the extension of her contract period as a producer, it was stated, “While there were talks of extending the contract, there were no genuine proposals to remove numerous unilateral termination clauses from the draft. The term ‘compromise proposal’ is merely a play on words.”
Lastly, ADOR replaced Min Hee Jin as CEO with Kim Joo Young on August 27, while she remained NewJeans’ producer. However, her inside director term is set to expire on November 1st.
NewJeans responded with an ultimatum on September 11, demanding Min’s CEO reinstatement and calling on HYBE’s Chairman Bang Si Hyuk to restore ADOR’s original structure by September 25.
