K-pop couple Lee Chanhyuk of AKMU and Lee Saerom of fromis_9 have reportedly parted ways, according to recent rumors.
On January 21, Xport News exclusively reported that Lee Chanhyuk and Lee Saerom broke up last year.
In response, AKMU’s agency YG Entertainment responded to the breakup rumors, stating, “We cannot confirm as it is the artist’s personal life.”
Dating rumors surrounding K-pop stars’ began circulating in October 2022. People suspected something was going on between them after they were reportedly seen together at a studio. Then, they posted photos from the same spot on their social media accounts.
Sources close to the couple reveal that they continued to see each other after dating rumors emerged, but ultimately parted ways last year. However, since they never publicly confirmed their relationship, it’s unclear how they feel about the breakup.
When the dating rumors surfaced, YG Entertainment responded by saying they couldn’t confirm anything due to the personal nature of the matter. Meanwhile, Pledis Entertainment, Lee Saerom’s agency, declined to comment. The fact that neither agency flat-out denied the rumors led many to assume that the relationship was real.
Lee Chanhyuk rose to fame after appearing on SBS’s “K-Pop Star 2” with his sister Lee Suhyun as the sibling duo. He officially debuted in 2014 as an AKMU member and went on to release numerous hit songs.
Lee Saerom, on the other hand, was chosen to join fromis_9 through Mnet’s “Idol School” in 2017. She has been actively promoting with the group since their debut. Notably, fromis_9 parted ways with their agency, Pledis, in December last year after their exclusive contract expired.
