NewJeans made history by sweeping Billboard’s ’21 Under 21′ list with all five members.
The group comprising Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Hyein, and Haerin, has been named one of the most innovative and influential young artists in the music industry, all under the age of 21.
NewJeans was the only K-pop artist to make it onto this year’s 21 Under 21 list dropped by the US Billboard on May 31.
Billboard’s ’21 Under 21′ roster is chosen each year based on factors like album and song sales, streaming numbers, social media presence, and impact on radio/TV, along with their influence on the industry.
Billboard specifically praised NewJeans for their outstanding accomplishments within just two years of their debut.
The group has performed well on the Billboard music charts with their infectious music. They made history by hitting the number one spot on the Billboard 200 just one year after their debut with their second EP Get Up last year.
Five of their songs including OMG, Ditto, Super Shy, ETA, and Cool With You made it onto the Hot 100 chart, and three of them (OMG, Ditto, Super Shy) made it into the top 10 on the ‘Global 200’ chart.
They were honored with the ‘Group of the Year Award‘ at the ‘2024 Billboard Women in Music Awards’.
On another note, NewJeans recently released the single How Sweet which made quite a splash on the music scene. Now, they’re gearing up for their Japan debut with a single Supernatural.
