Netflix’s hit All of Us Are Dead is coming back for Season 2, and the production is set to begin soon. The hit Korean zombie thriller, inspired by Joo Dong Geun’s webtoon, first gained major popularity upon its release in 2022. It recorded over 560 million viewing hours in its first month and reached Netflix’s top ten non-English shows in more than 90 countries.
Netflix officially confirmed the second season during its Geeked Week event in June 2022. While it was initially eyed for a 2025 release, director Park Chul Soo revealed in April 2024 that filming would take place that year, with a premiere slated for late 2025. However, the streamer later chose to delay the schedule by one year to allow for better production conditions.
After years of silence, Netflix finally confirmed new details about the long-awaited second season on July 23. The sophomore installment updates include casting confirmations, plot developments, and a clearer timeline for its debut. Here’s a roundup of what we know so far about All of Us Are Dead Season 2.
All of Us Are Dead Season 2 Release Date
Netflix has not confirmed an official release date, but current production updates indicate that All of Us Are Dead Season 2 is expected to premiere in 2026. Filming started in July 2025, and with the heavy post-production work needed for the zombie visuals and action scenes, the new season will likely arrive in early to mid-2026.
All of Us Are Dead 2 Storyline
Season 2 takes place several years after the outbreak at Hyosan High and follows Nam On Jo (Park Ji Hu), who is now studying at a university in Seoul. Still dealing with the trauma of the past, she tries to move on, but her life is upended once again when a second zombie outbreak spreads through the city.
This time, she must fight to survive without the friends who once stood by her side. Returning characters Lee Cheong San (Yoon Chan Young), Choi Nam Ra (Choi Yi Hyun), and Lee Su Hyeok (Lomon), are facing their own challenges as they adapt to life after the outbreak.
On Jo also builds new relationships with university seniors Yong Ma Ru (Lee Min Jae), So Ju Ran (Kim Si Eun), and Lee Jong A (Yoon Ga Yi), who have learned to survive in their own ways. Han Du Seok (Roh Jae Won), a National Intelligence Service official, brings a new layer of conflict to the series.
Key Plot Twists
- Fresh Zombie Threat: Speaking to Korea Herald, All of Us Are Dead director Lee Jae Kyoo revealed he had “intentionally” created space for a second season. For instance, the new races of zombies were introduced to expand the story into an additional season. Lee added that “the next season can talk about the survival of zombies.”
- Cheong San’s Return: Although Lee Cheong San appeared to die in Season 1 Episode 11, Yoon Chan Young is confirmed to return in All of Us Are Dead Season 2. Whether he comes back alive, as one of the undead, or through flashbacks hasn’t been revealed. Speaking to Newsen back in 2022, Yoon said, “To be honest, I don’t know. I haven’t heard about what happens next… Personally, I’d like to live.”
- Hybrids & NIS: Choi Nam Ra (Cho Yi Hyun), now a half-zombie, returns with a vital role in Season 2 alongside NIS agent Han Du Seok (Squid Game’s Roh Jae Won). Though she retained her humanity and gained enhanced strength, the hunger for human flesh still lingers. In contrast to the series’ direction, Joo Dong Geun’s original webtoon ends with Nam Ra reuniting with her friends, not the hybrids.
- New Survivors: On Jo teams up with university fellows Yong Ma Ru, So Ju Ran, and Lee Jong A, who have their own brutal survival tactics.
