Jessi recently stirred up controversy by walking away when a fan was assaulted by her group.
The 35-year-old K-pop star received a lot of criticism for abandoning the fan when the CCTV footage was aired in JTBC’s “Scandal Supervisor.”
On October 17, JTBC’s “Scandal Supervisor” interviewed an informant who claimed to have been assaulted similarly by Jessi and her group of friends in 2013.
The informant brought forward a past encounter with Jessi and associates in 2013 at an Itaewon club. According to the individual, the group’s actions resembled the recent incident. He claimed that “At the time, Jessi also claimed that ‘the perpetrators had left the country.’ The method was very similar.”
The informant recounted, ‘I ran into Jessi and her three friends in the club’s bathroom and gave way, letting them go first, but they picked a fight without reason and hit me. Jessi and her friends hit me and tried to slam my face into the toilet. After taking my bag, they told me to kneel and apologize, and they’d return it.’
However, Jessi previously addressed the fight saying, ‘My friends and the other person got into a fight, and I just tried to stop them; I absolutely did not hit them.’
The informant eventually withdrew the lawsuit, and the case was closed.
On September 29, an incident occurred in Apgujeong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. A minor fan encountered Jessi and her group and requested a photo, but was allegedly assaulted by a man accompanying Jessi.
The fan reported the incident to the police, who located the “Gum” singer at a nearby bar. When questioned about the attacker’s whereabouts, Jessi and her friends claimed ignorance.
After backlash, Jessi apologized and expressed “moral responsibility” but distanced herself from the incident. The police summoned her as a witness, and during questioning, Jessi stated she did not know the perpetrator.
