The Haknyeon scandal and his exit from THE BOYZ are becoming even more controversial. As the idol continues to firmly deny any involvement in prostitution, many fans now believe he was wrongfully caught in the scandal and that the termination of his contract may have been handled unfairly.

In the latest development, the former Japanese AV actress has denied receiving money for sexual acts from Haknyeon. In a social media post on June 21, she personally addressed the rumors, stating

“Many rumors are flying around, but the Weekly Bunshun article hasn’t been released yet. Please do not spread misinformation.

I have never, in my life, received money for sexual acts (prostitution) in private. Of course, that includes this time.

A woman I met for the first time at the scene, who seemed to like Haknyeon-san, took pictures and sold them to Bunshun.”

According to Kirara, another woman, who was present at the scene, took photos of them together and sold them to Bunshun. Her statement directly contradicts circulating rumors that Haknyeon may have violated South Korea’s Anti-Prostitution Law, which carries penalties of up to one year imprisonment or a 3 million KRW fine if convicted.

The denial comes as police continue investigating whether any money was traded during his visit to Japan.

Haknyeon was removed from the group after Weekly Bunshun accused him of prostitution and paying money to Asuka Kirara for sexual services. After the report went viral on June 18, a statement was released by THE BOYZ’s agency, ONE HUNDRED, announcing his removal. The 26-year-old K-pop star apologized to fans while denying the prostitution claims in a handwritten letter on the same day.

Later on June 19, a formal complaint was filed with the police, urging them to investigate the matter. The next day, Haknyeon revealed shocking details of his departure in a tell-all Instagram post.

The former THE BOYZ member stated that his contract was terminated unfairly and the agency demanded he pay $1.45 million (2 billion won) in damages. He firmly refuted the allegations and vowed to take legal action against the agency to ‘reveal the truth.’ Haknyeon also intends to hold the media outlets accountable for publishing malicious articles against him.

In response to the claims of unfair contract termination, agency officials cited “breach of dignity clauses” as grounds for dismissal, though specifics remain undisclosed.

The incident constituted grounds for contract termination based on Article 6, Clause 3 of his exclusive contract, which addresses “conduct that harms the artist’s dignity to the point of interfering with entertainment activities.

Industry observers note the case’s outcome could hinge on digital evidence like messaging histories or financial records. As of now, authorities have not yet confirmed when the investigation will conclude.

Meanwhile, THE BOYZ continues scheduled activities as an 10-member group following Haknyeon’s departure.
