On Children’s Day, several Korean artists, such as Park Bo Young, Ahn Hyo Seop, Kim Go Eun, and EXO’s Chanyeol, have shown their support for underprivileged children through donations. The most recent addition to this list is ATEEZ’s leader, Hongjoong.
On May 5, World Vision, a global humanitarian organization, revealed that in honor of Children’s Day, they received a 50 million won donation from Hongjoong, to support youth in family care in Korea.
This time, the contribution made by the 25-year-old idol on Children’s Day aims to provide comfort and support to teenagers who take care of family members with illnesses or disabilities.
The donation will be distributed to children and adolescents in family care nationwide through World Vision’s regional offices. Funds will be used to provide with livelihood support, medical assistance, education, and psychological counseling.
He revealed the reason for his donation, saying, “I decided on this sponsorship as an opportunity to meaningfully share the love I received from my fans. I heard that there are many children who are struggling to take care of their guardians at a time when they should be growing up happily.”
Lastly, ATEEZ announced their 10th mini album, GOLDEN HOUR : Part.1, scheduled to release on May 31. In addition, ATEEZ made history by becoming the first K-pop group to perform at Coachella.
