BLACKPINK’s Jisoo has been forced to publicly distance herself from her older brother, Kim Jung Hoon. This happens after his very recent arrest on sexual assault charges. New revelations suggest the family severed ties with him as far back as May 2025.
On April 22, YouTuber Lee Jin Ho released a video detailing the timeline of the family rift. According to Lee, the family cut ties with Kim Jung Hoon after an anonymous post surfaced on the workplace community app Blind in May 2025.
The poster accused Kim of secretly filming a sexual encounter without consent and possessing illicit recordings of other women. “After that incident, she completely lost trust from Jisoo’s side, including her family, and effectively cut ties with him since then,” Lee claimed.
The YouTuber described Kim’s immediate response to the 2025 scandal as erratic. At the time, he had been assisting Jisoo with her business affairs. When the accusations surfaced, Lee says Kim unilaterally changed his phone number and went into hiding. He communicated only through voice calls and avoided any direct contact. This, Lee argued, made it impossible for Jisoo to be involved in or even aware of her brother’s later controversies.
He also went on to explain why Jisoo’s brother appeared in the credits of her drama Boyfriend on Demand, which premiered in early March. This led to rumors that siblings were still working together. Lee Jin Ho addressed this directly and explained that filming took place from October 2024 to May 2025, before the family cut ties.
Kim Jung Hoon had temporarily assisted during that period. His name was included in the credits based on materials submitted during production.
Lee further alleged that when Jisoo saw the credits on March 6, she immediately demanded her brother’s name be removed. He claimed that editing a finished master copy is expensive (costing over 10 million won), but Jisoo paid the extra fee to have it deleted. This, he suggested, proves the cut was made before Kim’s April 2026 arrest.
Earlier, on April 20, Jisoo’s agency BLISSOO released an official statement through legal representative Kim & Chang. They firmly stated that all allegations against Kim are “entirely unrelated” to both the artist and the company.
The statement clarified that family members only provided limited assistance as intermediaries during the company’s early setup. The statement reads, “No family member has ever received compensation from BLISSOO or participated in decision-making.”
The agency emphasized that Jisoo has lived independently since beginning her trainee life at a young age and “is not in a position to be aware of or involved in the private matters of the individual in question.”
The controversy escalated on April 15 when Kim was arrested by Seoul’s Gangnam Police Station on charges of forcibly molesting a female BJ. Reports indicate he had purchased a “date ticket” worth approximately 3 million won to meet her before allegedly committing the assault at his residence. The Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office later rejected the arrest warrant, citing insufficient evidence.
Soon after, a woman claiming to be Kim’s wife came forward with domestic violence allegations. She shared photos of bruises and detailed abuse she says she endured during their marriage.
Amid the growing scandal, Jisoo canceled a scheduled airport appearance on April 22 and quietly departed the country for Cannes.
