B.I (real name, Kim Hanbin) is expanding his role at Label 131 from star artist to executive leader. The agency confirmed on Monday that the multi-talented musician will now serve as Head Producer, taking charge of the label’s creative vision, artist development, and overall musical direction.
On April 28, 131 Label announced, “B.I, beyond being the label’s representative artist, will lead the company’s vision and direction as a producer going forward.” They added, “He will lead 131 Label by overseeing artist operations, including producing.”
The 28-year-old artist said, “Since releasing my first solo album ‘WATERFALL’ on June 1, 2021, I’ve faced many real-life difficulties, but I was able to get here thanks to the fans who believed in and loved my music. It’s because of those times that I’m here now.”
He continued, “Over the past four years as a solo artist, I was able to endure through difficult moments because of the fans who were always by my side. Based on those times, I now want to communicate with my fans through music more deeply and for a longer time.”
B.I. has formally expanded his role at Label 131, transitioning from lead artist to the label’s central creative force. As newly appointed Head Producer, he will oversee artist development, brand direction, and production.
His journey in the entertainment industry began with iKON in 2015. He left the group and YG Entertainment following his 2019 departure from iKON after marijuana and LSD use allegations. The K-pop star was sentenced to three years in prison, suspended for four years, in September 2021.
Meanwhile, B.I has been actively touring and performing globally as part of the world tour “HYPE UP”, with stops in numerous cities across Asia, Europe, and Oceania. His world tour, which started in Seoul last May, has received enthusiastic responses from fans. He has also attended notable events like ComplexCon Hong Kong and Waterbomb Manila this year.
