After announcing his departure from CIX to go solo on August 5, Bae Jin Young said in a message to a fan on Bubble “Time is gold. I’ve blown a lot of gold so far,” leading fans to believe he was disrespecting the time and effort invested in CIX.

He offended fans with his thoughtless comments, and after the criticism grew, the 24-year-old K-pop idol apologized for his controversial remarks.

In a conversation with a fan on Bubble, he apologized saying, “First, I sincerely apologize to those who were hurt by my clumsy words and actions. I am embarrassed that this has been greatly misunderstood and distorted and people got flustered, I will try to be more careful with my words and actions from now on!”

Bae Jin Young repeatedly apologized saying, “If somebody who got hurt for any reason, I think it’s right to apologize since I did something wrong. Sorry.”

Bae Jin Young rose to fame after competing on Mnet’s ‘Produce 101 Season 2’ in 2017. He went on to promote as a member of the project group Wanna One, formed through the show. After Wanna One disbanded, Bae Jin Young rejoined the K-pop scene as a member of CIX under C9 Entertainment in 2019, serving as the group’s center, main dancer, and lead vocalist.

However, on August 5, C9 Entertainment announced that Bae Jin Young’s exclusive contract has ended, and he will be leaving CIX. It seems that he will now pursue a solo career.
