Back in November 2022, it was reported that the beloved South Korean novel, My ID Is Gangnam Beauty, which also had a K-drama adaptation, was going to be adapted into Thai! The Thai adaptation is called Beauty Newbie.
It’s based on a super popular webtoon by Maenggi Ki, which has an incredible 1.4 billion views. Previously, it was revealed that Beauty Newbie starring Win Metawin and Baifern Pimchanok will be released in early 2024.
Well, the wait is finally over as the release date is out. Beauty Newbie is set to air on VIU every Monday and Tuesday starting February 19.
On February 5, an official trailer on GMMTV Official TV was revealed which gave viewers a glimpse into the upcoming series.
In the trailer, Liu, played by Baifern, goes through a big transformation. She decides to have plastic surgery to escape the tough times she had during her childhood.
It’s a world where beauty standards are really intense, and Liu just wants to be accepted. Along the way, she finds comfort in her new friend Faye, played by Jane Ramida. Things get complicated when Guy, played by Win Metawin, shows up and brings some secrets from the past.
Guy warns Liu about trust, and she has to figure out who to believe. Sense, played by Great Spol, becomes a reliable friend who supports her no matter what.
When Liu’s secret about her plastic surgery gets out, it causes a lot of gossip and messes up her friendships, relationships, and how society sees her. Throughout the trailer, Liu and Guy go through a complicated journey of love and connection.
