BLACKPINK members have been catching fans’ eyes not just with their music but also with their tattoos. Lisa is the most open about her ink, showing off a few small tattoos, including a new one that recently got everyone talking.
Jennie and Jisoo have not been as vocal about their body art, on the other hand, Rosé had a couple of subtle tattoos; however, there is a catch.
The group is currently on their Deadline tour and performed in Barcelona this past Saturday. Last month, Lisa unveiled a new tattoo, which sparked interest in what tattoos the other members may have.
Here’s a detailed look at each member’s tattoos, based on the information available.
Lisa
Among the four members, Lisa is by far the most inked. Her tattoos are well-documented and permanent, the recent one done by renowned tattoo artist Gunhyo Park, known as 8P. Each piece holds personal significance and represents important moments or memories in her life.
- Edelweiss Flower: One of her most famous tattoos is the Edelweiss flower on her back. This tattoo symbolizes innocence and first love, inspired by a childhood memory when Lisa saw the Edelweiss flower during her time in Switzerland.
- Fairy: Another delicate design is the fairy on her arm, though the 28-year-old K-pop star has kept the meaning of this tattoo private.
- Dream: In July, Lisa shared a neck tattoo that reads “Dream” in with her followers, a likely nod to her solo song titled Dream from her solo album Alter Ego. The song is one of the album’s most vulnerable tracks, where she expresses her longing for someone dear and hoping to reunite, even if only as friends.
- LLOUD: On her ankle, she has the word “LLOUD,” which is the name of her self-founded artist management company.
- Rockstar: Additionally, Lisa has a “Rockstar” tattoo inked on her forearm. This tattoo represents her favorite song from her first studio album, Alter Ego, and possibly her identity as a music icon.
- Half-butterfly: A butterfly tattoo on her side ribcage is often spotted during performances and photoshoots.
Rosé
Rosé’s tattoo story is quite different. Unlike her bandmate Lisa, she doesn’t have permanent tattoos but has been seen with temporary ink that carries sentimental value. In 2022, she revealed a small “h” tattoo on her arm, dedicated to her beloved dog, Hank. This tattoo was confirmed to be temporary and designed to fade over time.
There has been fan speculation about Rosé and Jisoo having matching heart tattoos, but no official confirmation or clear evidence supports this.
Jisoo
Jisoo’s tattoos are the most mysterious among the group. During BLACKPINK’s BORN PINK world tour, fans spotted a heart-shaped tattoo near her back or ribcage. The Earthquake singer hasn’t publicly talked about this tattoo or its meaning, adding an air of intrigue.
She keeps her tattoos discreet, which matches her elegant and graceful public image. Jisoo is also known for her love of jewelry and piercings, often seen sporting stylish earrings, but these are separate from tattoos.
Jennie
Jennie is known for having no permanent tattoos. During her trainee days at YG Entertainment, she wore a temporary tattoo on her wrist that read “Stay Strong.” This tattoo served as a motivational reminder during the challenging training period before debut.
In 2023, BLINKs noticed a butterfly tattoo on her index finger during a Calvin Klein photoshoot. Last year, she displayed temporary tattoos of the word ‘Mantra’ on her back and leg to promote her song of the same name
In music videos and photo shoots, Jennie has been seen with fake tattoos used for aesthetics, such as in her solo hit “SOLO.” However, she has not publicly displayed any permanent ink, which aligns with YG Entertainment’s strict policies on tattoos during their trainees’ early years.
K-pop Companies’ Tattoo Policy
It’s important to note that K-pop companies, including YG Entertainment, BLACKPINK’s agency, traditionally had strict rules prohibiting trainees from getting tattoos.
Alongside other restrictions like dating bans and limitations on drinking and driving, tattoos were only allowed with company approval. This policy partially explains why some members have fewer or temporary tattoos compared to others.
Meanwhile, BLACKPINK will wrap their European leg of world tour, Deadline, with a show in London on August 15-16.
