BLACKPINK’s Rosé and TWICE made history, crashing the Billboard 200’s Top 5 with their explosive new releases.
The “APT.” singer has become the most successful K-pop female soloist to date with the release debut full-length “rosie”, dropped on December 6.
On December 15 (local time), Billboard officially announced that Rosé’s debut solo album “rosie” has entered the Billboard 200 chart at No. 3 with 102,000 units sold.
The 27-year-old K-pop idol surpassed the previous best for a female K-pop solo artist, held by TWICE’s Nayeon, who peaked at No. 7 with her mini-albums “IM NAYEON” and “NA“.
Previously, BLACKPINK made history with their album “BORN PINK”, becoming the first K-pop girl group to ever reach #1 on the Billboard 200 chart in September 2022.
Rosé has broken countless records and set new bests for K-pop acts with the release of her pre-release track “APT.” and studio album “rosie.” Her chart-topping hit “APT.” also landed her at #8 on Billboard’s HOT 100 and #4 on the UK Official Singles Chart.
On the other hand, TWICE released their 14th mini-album “STRATEGY” on all streaming platforms on December 6. According to the latest Billboard chart, their new album “STRATEGY” secured a spot at No. 4 on Billboard 200 with 88,000 units sold.
Previously, their 13th mini-album “with YOU-th,” released in February, debuted at the top of the Billboard 200, marking the first time they achieved this feat.
“STRATEGY” sold over 500K copies on the first day and the title track of the same name featuring Megan Thee Stallion is also making waves on the music platforms.
On another note, Rosé and TWICE are now actively promoting their new releases on multiple platforms.
