Fans of BLACKPINK’s Lisa can look forward to an in-depth look at her solo journey in the upcoming documentary film. On May 30, Sony Music Vision announced that a new documentary film focusing on her individual career is currently in production.
The announcement was made during a content showcase event held in Los Angeles. Documentaries about Elvis Presley, Oasis, and Barbra Streisand were also announced during the event.
This project is a collaborative effort with LLOUD CO., RCA Records, and Tremolo Productions. The film will chronicle a pivotal year in Lisa’s life as she steps away from BLACKPINK activities to forge her unique path as a solo artist.
The documentary is being helmed by acclaimed director Sue Kim, known for her work on A24’s “The Last of the Sea Women” and Netflix’s Academy Award-shortlisted “The Speed Cubers.” Kim also served as an executive producer for the docuseries “K-Pop Idols.”
Sue Kim shared in an official statement,
There have been so many moments on her journey that I think will surprise people and give a glimpse into her world that no one has ever seen before. I am excited for viewers to watch the film and witness this extraordinary moment in her life.
Lisa herself expressed her enthusiasm for the project, adding,
This has been such an incredible year, and I am so lucky to have the opportunity to capture these special moments on film and share the experience with my fans. Working with Sue Kim has been such a joy. We have been all around the world together and I know this is just the beginning of many more exciting things to come.
During the content showcase event in Los Angeles, initial clips from the film were debuted, featuring footage from Lisa’s 2025 solo debut performance at Coachella and even moments from her home in Thailand.
Director Sue Kim revealed that a key focus of the documentary will be to present the global superstar in her more candid, offstage moments. It will offer fans a rare glimpse into her personal life and creative process beyond the spotlight. Since pausing group activities, the “Rockstar” rapper hit major milestones and achieved several historic firsts, including performances at the Oscars 2025, Victoria’s Secret’s Fashion Show, as well as her acting debut in “The White Lotus” Season 3.
Meanwhile, Lisa made her Met Gala 2025 debut earlier this month in a bold Louis Vuitton outfit. After wrapping up her solo activities, she is working on BLACKPINK’s music, set to release in June, followed by a massive world tour.
