The buzz surrounding Rosé and Bruno Mars’ upbeat song “APT.” does not seem to die down after over a month of its release.

The 27-year-old K-pop idol opened up about the making of “APT.” music video in an interview with JTBC’s “Newsroom.”

On December 1, she appeared as a guest on “Newsroom” to promote her upcoming album “rosie” and did not forget to talk about the pre-release single “APT.” which broke countless records.

When asked if Bruno Mars was behind the kiss in her music video, Rosé confirmed, “That’s right, and there’s a story behind it.” She recalled asking Bruno, “Why do I have to do it?” to which he replied that it would be weirder if he did it.

She said Mars coached her on vocals for the song. When singing “Hold on, I’m on my way,” he told her to sound like she was calling someone from far away. He even teased her about her shy delivery, saying, “You’ve never flirted like that before, huh?”

The BLACKPINK member said she was the only one convinced that Bruno would choose “APT.” Despite her team advising her not to send the song, she secretly replaced the final song with “APT” at the last minute.

Rosé and Bruno Mars are both artists under Atlantic Records and have become close friends after their collaboration. He also co-produced another pre-release single “number one girl,” dropped on November 22. In addition, they performed “APT.” together at K-pop’s biggest award show, MAMA Awards.

Meanwhile, Rosé will drop her first debut album “rosie” in collaboration with Atlantic Records on December 6.
