BLACKPINK has given a special surprise to fans ahead of the group’s 8th debut anniversary.
On June 21, YG Entertainment announced that BLACKPINK’s ‘Born Pink’ world tour will be broadcast in theaters worldwide starting July 31.
The movie, titled BLACKPINK World Tour [Born Pink] In Cinemas, will feature the group’s live show from the final concert of the world tour.
The finale concert of the hugely successful Born Pink tour took place at Gocheok Sky Dome in western Seoul on September 17, 2023.
The movie will hit screens in 110 countries, such as the United States, the UK, Mexico, and Indonesia.
BLACKPINK’s concert film will be shown in various immersive formats, including 4DX and ScreenX, offering a unique cinematic experience with massive screens, motion-enabled seating, special effects, and enhanced audio. The film will have an extended run of over three weeks, giving fans ample opportunity to enjoy the show.
BLACKPINK’s ‘Born Pink’ world tour, which kicked off in October 2022, was a massive success, with 66 shows across 34 cities globally, drawing in an impressive 1.8 million fans. The tour concluded in Seoul with two sold-out concerts at the iconic Gocheok Sky Dome on September 16 and 17.
They became the first K-pop girl group to pack out one of South Korea’s largest music venues. In addition, they made history by performing at Coachella and BST Hyde Park.
BLACKPINK members, Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa, signed exclusive contracts with YG Entertainment in December 2023 for group activities but opted not to renew their individual contracts.
Instead, Jennie, Jisoo, and Lisa founded their own management companies, ODD ATELIER, LLOUD, and BLISSOO respectively. Meanwhile, Rosé signed a management contract with THE BLACK LABEL, a label founded by renowned producer Teddy.
On another note, there’s talk going around that BLACKPINK is putting together a special event for their 8th debut anniversary. However, it’s still up in the air whether they’ll simply drop a tour movie or plan something extra.
