Yook Sungjae, Bona aka Kim Ji Yeon, and Kim Ji Hoon are teaming up for a new fantasy romantic comedy, Return to the Palace (working title).
Acclaimed director Yoon Sung Shik, known for his work on hit dramas like Mr. Queen, Hwarang, Oasis, and Cleaning Up, is at the helm of this new project. Meanwhile, writer Yoon Soo Jung, who penned Heaven’s Order and Sassy Go Go, has written the script for Return to the Palace.
Return to the Palace is a fantasy romantic comedy that follows Yeo-ri, a shaman who refuses her destined path, and Kang Cheol Ri, a snake spirit trapped in the body of Yeo-ri’s former love, Yoon Gap.
Yook Sungjae plays Yoon Gap, a police inspector, and Yeo-ri’s first love. However, his body is possessed by Imoogi, an evil spirit who seeks to use Yeo-ri’s body to enter heaven. As Yoon Gap struggles to regain control, he must also protect the palace from sinister schemes.
Bona stars as Yeo-ri, a powerful shaman who defies her destiny. As the granddaughter of a revered god, Yeori inherits remarkable magical abilities. However, her life takes a drastic turn when she becomes entangled with Kang Cheol Ri, a snake spirit who failed to become a dragon.
Kim Ji Hoon plays King Lee Sung, who joins forces with Yoon Gap and Yeori to stop evil schemes and save the royal family. They work together to uncover the truth and protect the kingdom.
Return to the Palace is scheduled to premiere in January 2025.
