Today, Wednesday, June 11, 2025, marks the official completion of mandatory military service for Park Jimin, a well-known vocalist and dancer of BTS. Having fulfilled his national duty for 18 months, the “Like Crazy” singer is now returning to civilian life.
He, along with bandmate Jeon Jungkook, completed military service after serving in the 5th Infantry Division. On December 12, 2023, the duo enlisted together under South Korea’s ‘companion enlistment’ program. Jimin was assigned to an Artillery Unit, specifically the Field Artillery Fire Direction Center, within the 5th Infantry Division.
Per HYBE’s request, fans were asked not to visit their military bases for safety and privacy reasons. To respect the privacy of soldiers being discharged on the same day, the military completion ceremony took place at a different location.
Jimin and Jungkook arrived at the Yeoncheon Public Stadium amidst screams from ARMYs. While talking to the press, the 29-year-old singer shared
It’s been quite a long time from the pandemic to the end of our military service, so thank you so much for waiting. Since I’m discharged from the military today, I think we can continue to draw the pictures that we were drawing. We’ll prepare and show you better selves.
It wasn’t an easy place… I didn’t start out thinking the military service was an easy task but it really was hard, but we shared the experience of hardships, and grew close to each other while eating and sleeping outside together…
Lastly, if I could dare ask for something from the citizens, now that I’ve served in the military and I’ve seen how it is… Many people are working so hard, so if you see the soldiers when you pass by them out there, and if you are comfortable, please give them some warm words. I would feel so honored.

Jimin will share more details about his military service experiences during the live broadcast, scheduled shortly after discharge. He will participate in BTS Festa 2025 activities and resume solo activities.
Only one BTS member, Suga, remains in alternative duty and is scheduled for discharge on June 21. Following this, the OT7 lineup will reunite to work on new music; however, their comeback may not happen until early 2026.
