A surprising collaboration between a BTS superstar and a Korean culinary researcher is about to take the liquor industry by storm.
As reported by News1 on December 11, BTS’ oldest member Jin has partnered with renowned culinary expert Baek Jong Won. If rumors are true, the “Running Wild” singer will become the first BTS member to launch his own business.
Insiders reveal that Yesando Co., Ltd, a joint venture between BTS Jin and Baek Jong Won, will unveil its signature distilled liquor, “IGIN”, this month. This traditional gin showcases the unique flavors of Yesan, Baek’s hometown in South Chungcheong Province.
“IGIN” goes beyond traditional liquor with refreshing ready-to-drink options. The lineup includes “IGIN Sweet Tonic” and “IGIN Sour Tonic”, made from apples, watermelon, and plums.
BTS Jin and Baek Jong-won laid the groundwork for their venture by establishing ‘Jinnie’s Lamp’, an agricultural corporation based in Yesan-gun, South Chungcheong Province, in December 2022. Notably, Jin had previously mentioned ‘Jinnie’s Lamp’ as a desired name for his studio through a fan communication platform.
Jin’s well-documented love for traditional Korean liquor has fueled excitement for his new business. Fans got a glimpse of his passion on Bangtan TV’s episode, where he explored traditional liquor with Baek Jong Won and Park Rok Dam.
Additionally, the 32-year-old singer has shared his homemade creations with friends like J-Hope, Lee Yeon Bok, and Park Seo Ham.
Jin’s Genie Lamp will oversee IGIN’s production, while Yesando, a subsidiary of The Born Korea, will handle distribution. Notably, industry expert Park Rok Dam, dubbed the “godfather of Korean traditional liquor,” has joined as an auditor. Additionally, a seasoned liquor store manager has been recruited to spearhead IGIN’s sales efforts ahead of its launch.
A representative from Yesando has opted to remain tight-lipped, stating, “We have no information to confirm at this time.”
On the work front, Jin has been thriving as a solo artist, releasing his debut album “Happy” and making various appearances.
