After IVE’s Jang Wonyoung and Kang Daniel, BTS’ Jungkook and V filed a lawsuit against YouTuber Sojang for defamation and slander.
As reported by Star News on August 16, BTS members V and Jungkook, along with their agency BIGHIT MUSIC, have filed a joint lawsuit against the YouTube channel Taldeok Camp. The lawsuit, submitted to the Seoul Western District Court in March, seeks 90 million won in damages from the channel’s operator.
The first hearing is scheduled for August 23, five months after the initial filing. The case will be heard by the 12th Civil Division of the court.
BIGHIT MUSIC is taking strong action against people who spread false information, insult, or harass their artists online. They want to make sure those responsible face consequences.
Last year, they took action against YouTuber Sojang for spreading false information and interfering with their business. The police investigation was initially put on hold, but BIGHIT MUSIC provided more evidence, and the case was reopened. Now, they’re also suing the channel for damages in a civil court case.
Previously, V directly talked about the defamatory videos uploaded by the said YouTuber on the fan community platform Weverse. When a fan shared a screenshot of the video on a public board, V responded, “I will be suing. I am getting some extra money for snacks. You are even involving my friends and family, Goodbye.”
He added that he only glanced at the video, and all artists despise people like that. He promised that he would be taking legal action for those who were hurt and lost their voice.
When a fan advised him to ignore the malicious posts, V replied about his mental toughness by referencing his fellow member SUGA.
