BTS Jungkook is back on Instagram with a brand-new account on Tuesday. The golden maknae had deleted his previous account, which had more than 52 million followers.
Later, he explained on Weverse that he wasn’t using it much and wanted a break. “It wasn’t hacked, I just deleted it because I didn’t really use it.” He told fans that he had even uninstalled the app from his phone.
Now, he has returned with a simple username that made fans smile: @mnijungkook, which he revealed stands for “My Name Is Jungkook.” His previous usernames included @abcdefghi__lmnopqrstuvwxyz and @jungkook.97.
His new account has already crossed 1.3 million followers within hours. Jungkook is following his six bandmates and BTS’ official account. It appears the account was created in January 2025; however, no posts were shared.
Today, Jungkook hopped on multiple live streams, chatting freely with fans. He was also joined by V and RM during one of the surprise broadcasts. In these impromptu streams, the trio chatted casually and joked around.
It was an exciting day for ARMY when Jungkook went live—first solo, then on Instagram with RM and V. The most chaotic moment came during his follow-up Weverse live, where RM, V, Jimin, and even j-hope (who popped in briefly while arriving at Incheon International Airport after Lollapalooza Berlin) all joined in to tease and chat with him.
During his military service, Jungkook took a unique approach to staying connected with ARMY. He created an Instagram account for his beloved Doberman, Bam (@bowwow_bam). Announced on Weverse in April 2024, he joked, “I can’t brag about myself right now, so I should brag about my child (baby) instead.”
The account quickly went viral, drawing over 2.6 million followers within hours. It wasn’t just filled with cute dog photos; the “Seven” singer even used Bam’s account to follow his close ‘97-liner’ friends.
It’s a group born in 1997 that includes idols like Seventeen’s Mingyu, Stray Kids’ Bang Chan, ASTRO’s Cha Eunwoo, NCT’s Jaehyun, and GOT7’s Yugyeom.
Five out of seven BTS members, RM, Suga, V, Jungkook, and Jimin, are in LA, working on a new BTS album, coming out in 2026. Soon, they will be joined by j-hope and Jin, who have almost wrapped up their solo activities. They will stay abroad for around three months to prepare new group music for AMRYs.
Now that the military chapter is behind them, things are looking bright for BTS members, who will continue group and solo activities. They will keep entertaining fans with spontaneous, chaotic livestreams and other activities.
Meanwhile, BTS will release a live concert album, Permission to Dance On Stage – Live, on July 22, which contains live versions of 22 songs.
