BTS member Jungkook has once again become the target of obsessive fan behavior, known as “sasaeng” activity. Multiple incidents of trespassing and privacy violations were reported over the past year.
On August 30, just a day before his birthday, a woman in her 40s was arrested for attempting to trespass into Jungkook’s residence in Yongsan-gu, Seoul. At approximately 11:20 p.m., she followed another vehicle into the parking lot of his building. Security personnel, monitoring the area via CCTV, noticed her suspicious behavior and promptly alerted the authorities.
Upon being confronted, the woman reportedly claimed she was “visiting a friend’s house.” She was subsequently detained by the Yongsan Police Station on charges of attempted home invasion.
Earlier in June 2025, a Chinese woman was arrested for attempting to break into Jungkook’s home on the day of his military discharge. She allegedly pressed the front door password multiple times and claimed she had come to Korea to see Jungkook. The police intervened before she could gain access; however, the 28-year-old singer was unable to go home for hours after the discharge ceremony.
These trespassing incidents are part of a troubling pattern of invasive behavior directed at Jungkook. Reports have surfaced of fans sending unsolicited food deliveries, slipping letters under his door, and even attempting to film him during private moments. In July 2024, a sasaeng fan threatened to leak his passport unless paid.
During a birthday livestream on September 1 (KST), Jungkook addressed the issue directly, warning fans against trespassing. He stated,
If I put foot in the parking lot, I cannot go out. You cannot leave unless I open it for you; you are trapped. And there’s CCTV, I am watching everything. If you do not want to go to the police station, don’t come in.
Other K-pop artists and acts have also experienced trouble with the intrusive behavior of these obsessive fans. More recently, a female forcibly breached security protocols and tried to forcibly kiss him during an event in Mexico. Who could forget the woman who crossed boundaries during BTS Jin’s ‘hug event’ in June last year, when she tried to kiss him.
Meanwhile, Jungkook will continue solo activities after finishing work on BTS’s forthcoming album; his first solo comeback and a world tour are on the horizon.
