As BTS members gradually complete their mandatory military service, ARMYs worldwide are keeping track of their enlistment and anticipated discharge dates. The globally beloved K-pop group began their military hiatus in late 2022, with members enlisting according to individual timelines while promising to reunite as a full group in 2025.
With all seven members set to finish their mandatory military service by June 2025, their reunion will be more than just a comeback. Since four members, RM, V, Jimin, and Jungkook, enlisted in December 2023, their hiatus will be relatively short compared to other groups who begin military enlistment.
Jin and J-hope were discharged from the military last year, and the remaining members will join them in June.
Note: This article will be updated regularly as BTS members complete their military service.
BTS Members Military Enlistment and Discharge Dates
Jin (Discharged)

- Enlistment Date: December 13, 2022
- Discharge Date: June 12, 2024
The eldest member officially began the group’s military chapter in late 2022. Jin was the first one to enlist and complete his mandatory military service as an active-duty soldier. He was serving as an assistant drill instructor at the 5th Army Infantry Division in Yeoncheon before discharge.
The post-service Jin immediately reconnected with fans through special solo projects while waiting for his members.
j-hope (Discharged)

- Enlistment Date: April 18, 2023
- Discharge Date: October 17, 2024
The group’s main dancer was the second out of seven BTS members to enlist in April 2023, approximately 4 months after Jin’s enlistment. j-hope also served as an assistant drill instructor at Army boot camp before scheduled discharge in October 2024.
After his military service, he is actively releasing new music and currently touring Asia as part of his solo world tour “HOPE ON THE STAGE”.
SUGA (Serving)
- Enlistment Date: September 22, 2023
- Discharge Date: June 21, 2025
SUGA served through alternative duty due to past injuries and was deemed “unfit for regular combat”. While the “Haegeum” rapper was the third member to enlist, he will be the last to finish alternative service. Unlike an active-duty soldier, social service workers are required to complete 21 months of service.
RM (Serving)
- Enlistment Date: December 11, 2023
- Discharge Date: June 10, 2025
RM (real name Kim Namjoon) is serving as a 15th Infantry Division military band member. The group leader along with member V completed basic training on January 17, 2024, and earned the coveted tag of “elite soldiers”.
Although RM has been serving in the military since December 2023, he’s still been active musically. He released his second full-length album “Wrong Place, Right Person,” a documentary, a collaboration with Megan Thee Stallion, and a song with Tablo called “Stop the Rain” that will came out on May 2.
Jimin (Serving)
- Enlistment Date: December 12, 2023
- Discharge Date: June 11, 2025
Jimin entered the same army boot camp as Jungkook after completing basic military training. The vocalist was then assigned to the Field Artillery Fire Direction Center in the 5th Infantry Division.
During his military service, he released his sophomore mini-album “MUSE” with the title track “Who”, which became the longest-charting K-pop song on Billboard HOT 100.
V (Serving)
- Enlistment Date: December 11, 2023
- Discharge Date: June 10, 2025
The “idol of idols” has maintained strong public interest even during service. He enlisted with RM on December 11, 2023, and joined the South Korean Military’s Special Duty Team (SDT) after completing basic training.
Currently serving in the elite “Double Dragons” unit of South Korea’s 2nd Division Military Police, the “Slow Dancing” singer has undergone a remarkable physical transformation during his service. The once-slender idol has noticeably bulked up, leaving fans marveling at his “buffed” new physique.
Jungkook (Serving)
- Enlistment Date: December 12, 2023
- Discharge Date: June 11, 2025
The Golden Maknae and Jimin enlisted together and are currently assigned to the same unit, the 5th Infantry Division. Unlike his bandmate, he is fulfilling his mandatory military service as a cook.
If BTS’s comeback plans are pushed to 2026, Jungkook will likely release a sophomore album and go on a solo tour in the second half of this year.
Lastly, all BTS members except SUGA will complete their military service just in time for their 12th debut anniversary celebrations.
