For those waiting for an update from BTS leader RM from the military, they’re in for a special treat.
On August 1, the 29-year-old K-pop rapper took to Instagram to share the exciting news that he has been promoted to corporal.
However, that’s not the only good news, he was spotted rehearsing for the Hwacheon Tomato Festival with a military band.
That’s surely a double treat, his promotion to corporal and his upcoming participation in the Hwacheon Tomato Festival.
RM will attend the 2024 Hwacheon Tomato Festival, a major summer event in Hwacheon-gun, Gangwon-do, from August 1-4. As a member of the 15th Infantry Division Band, he is expected to perform on stage on the first day, alongside his fellow soldiers.
Recent photos and videos show RM rehearsing with the band, wearing his military uniform, and proudly displaying his senior rank insignia.
RM along with V began his military service on December 11, 2023, starting with training at the Nonsan Army Training Center. He was then assigned to the 15th Division’s military band, where he has been serving. RM made headlines earlier for performing with the band, wearing a distinctive red uniform and playing the saxophone.
In May, he made a comeback with his second album, Right Place, Wrong Person which was well-received by fans and critics.
He also welcomed fellow BTS member Jin at his discharge ceremony in June, playing a saxophone tribute.
RM, along with SUGA, Jimin, V, and Jungkook, is set to complete his military service in June next year.
