BTS member V, also known as Kim Taehyung, has been keeping fans eagerly anticipating his solo work with the announcement of his upcoming music video, Blue. This track is the third release from his debut solo album, Layover, which is set to drop on September 8, 2023. The teaser for Blue was released on August 22, 2023, and has quickly captured the attention of ARMYs worldwide.
The 23-second teaser shows V in a striking monochrome setting, walking down a hallway in a leather jacket before knocking on a door marked “C.” The clip ends with the title Blue and confirms the full MV release on September 13, 2023. Fans have praised the cinematic visuals, his intense gaze, and the atmospheric aesthetic.
Blue follows the earlier releases from Layover, namely Rainy Days and Love Me Again, both of which debuted at number one on iTunes charts in multiple countries. These tracks highlighted V’s smooth vocal tone and his ability to convey emotion through both music and visuals.
The album as a whole blends R&B, pop, and soft ballad influences. V collaborated with NewJeans producer Min Hee Jin for his solo debut release. Other tracks include For Us, Slow Dancing (lead single), and a piano version of the lead single.
The BTS member will guest on multiple shows for the promotion of his album, including NAVER NPOP, Dingo Story, You Quiz on the Block, Tiny Desk Korea, and more.
V is stepping into his own solo light a decade after his debut with BTS. This year, BTS maknae line, Jimin, V, and Jungkook, made their solo debuts since BTS activities are on pause due to j-hope and Jin’s enlistment.
