BTS member V (real name Kim Taehyung) has secured one of the most coveted addresses in Seoul by purchasing a luxury penthouse in the Cheongdam-dong district of Gangnam-gu.
On September 24, real estate records confirmed that the idol acquired his new home at PH129, better known as The Penthouse Cheongdam, for ₩14.2 billion (approximately $10.2 million USD).
The property transfer was completed on September 17 after V paid the remaining balance in full. Records show no mortgage was taken out, suggesting he purchased the residence entirely in cash. The original sales contract had been signed in early May.
The unit spans 273.96㎡ (about 2,951 square feet) and includes five bedrooms and three bathrooms. Completed in August 2020, PH129 quickly earned a reputation as South Korea’s most exclusive residential complex. The building contains just 29 duplex-style units, stretching from six basement levels to 20 floors above ground.
One of its most striking features is a panoramic living room window, measuring six meters high and eleven meters wide, which overlooks the Han River. The master bedroom and dining areas were designed with ceilings rising to 6.6 meters. The two penthouses on the top floor even include private rooftop pools.
The building was also constructed with high-grade earthquake resistance and offers privacy-focused smart security systems. Additional certifications for eco-friendly and smart living, along with high-speed ICT capabilities, make it one of the most technologically advanced residential complexes in the country. Each unit also comes with an impressive 5.1 parking spaces and its own dedicated elevator.
V joins a roster of high-profile residents. Actor couple Jang Dong Gun and Ko So Young, professional golfer Park In Bee, and celebrity instructor Hyun Woo Jin are among those living in the complex. PH129 has consistently ranked among the top-tier properties in Korea and held the title of the country’s most expensive apartment for four years straight after its opening.
Although recently overtaken by Eterno Cheongdam in the Ministry of Land’s 2025 official rankings, PH129 continues to carry immense prestige. This year, a 407.71㎡ unit in the building was officially listed at ₩17.21 billion, reflecting a rise of ₩160 million from the previous year.
Before this purchase, the 29-year-old singer owned an apartment in the SK Apelbaum complex in Gangnam, which he bought in 2019. With an estimated net worth of around $40 million, V is considered one of the wealthiest members of BTS. Besides music, his endorsements with global brands such as CELINE and Cartier have contributed significantly to his fortune.
On the work front, V is pursuing solo activities after military service while working with bandmates on BTS’s new group album.
