The Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) has announced its latest round of official music certifications.
On October 10, RIAJ released a list of artists who earned Gold and Platinum certifications, including multiple K-pop acts.
BTS’ V, LE SSERAFIM, TXT, RIIZE, and BOYNEXTDOOR were among the K-pop acts that earned the prestigious RIAJ certifications.
The Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) awards monthly certifications based on single and album shipments:
- Gold: 100,000+ copies sold
- Platinum: 250,000+ copies sold
- Double Platinum: 500,000+ copies sold
- Triple Platinum: 750,000+ copies sold
- Million: 1,000,000+ copies sold
BTS’ V
V’s album “Layover” has been awarded Platinum certification, having exceeded 250,000 copies shipped.
“Layover”, which was first released in September 2023, is V’s first solo Platinum album. Recently re-released as an LP, it topped Oricon’s Daily Album Rankings.
TXT
TXT’s Japanese single “CHIKAI,” released on July 3, has surpassed 750,000 cumulative shipments as of September. With over 750,000 copies shipped in just three months, TXT became the first and only foreign artist to earn a Triple Platinum certification in 2024 so far.
“CHIKAI” also holds the highest weekly sales for a single by a foreign artist in Japan this year, selling 358,845 copies in its first week of release.
LE SSERAFIM
LE SSERAFIM’s “CRAZY” earned Gold certification from RIAJ, surpassing 100,000 shipments. This marks the group’s third consecutive work to achieve Gold status, following “UNFORGIVEN” and “EASY.”
This is an impressive feat achieved by LE SSERAFIM, earning gold certifications three times in a row with Korean albums.
BOYNEXTDOOR
As of September 2024, BOYNEXTDOOR’s 3rd Mini-album has surpassed 100,000 cumulative shipments locally, earning a Gold certification.
Additionally, it topped Japan’s Oricon Weekly Album and Combined Album Rankings. This follows their successful Japanese debut single “AND” (July 2024), which sold 250,000+ copies in its first month.
RIIZE
RIIZE’s debut Japanese single “Lucky” is receiving a lot of love from Japanese fans. Released locally on September 5, it has already achieved RIAJ Platinum certification with over 250,000 shipments in just one month.
