The Palestine-Israel war that began last year is still ongoing with hundreds of innocent people killed.
Ever since the war started, people have boycotted certain brands that are funding genocide in Gaza.
They have been demanding celebrities to come forward, raise awareness, and participate in the boycott.
However, many celebrities have received massive backlash for using products of the boycotted brand including Jeon Somi, Lee Hyeri, ENHYPEN’s Jake, Huh Yunjin, Park Sung Hoon, and now BTS V.
On July 21, BTS V shared a batch of stunning photos from his trip to Hawaii. However, a photo in which he’s holding McDonald’s fries drew criticism from netizens.
After an Israeli airstrike on Gaza a few months ago, fans discovered V’s photocards among the rubble, likely belonging to a fan who lost their life. This led to a backlash against the Slow Dancing singer for endorsing a brand that supports Israeli actions in Palestine, and for not showing solidarity with fans in the region.
Despite fan requests for BTS to show solidarity with Palestinians, V’s recent post featuring McDonald’s fries has caused deep hurt and outrage. Fans are asking V to delete the photo and apologize.
Fans are divided on whether the post was an endorsement, but given how careful V is about not promoting non-partner brands on Instagram, many believe it was a deliberate choice.
