BTS’s SUGA reconnected with fans through his first solo Weverse livestream since being discharged from the military on June 21. This was his first Weverse live after more than two years. Although he has appeared on group livestreams, fans were concerned because they did not receive any solo interactions. After over six months since his discharge, he has yet to make his first public appearance.
On December 28, he turned on the Weverse live “to greet fans at the end of the year” and check in during the cold season.
During the broadcast, SUGA introduced a new companion in his life, his pet cat Tang. He explained that the name is a playful reference to “sugar” in Korean. He shared that he had once hoped to raise two cats named Seol and Tang together, but Tang entered his life unexpectedly.
The 32-year-old rapper revealed that Tang was not purchased or adopted through a shelter. Instead, someone he knows suddenly had six kittens after a street cat became the father, and Tang was one of them. Although he originally wanted to raise two cats, he decided to bring Tang home alone. Tang is now three years old.
Despite having little prior experience with cats, SUGA said Tang is “super kind.” He shared that Tang allows his nails to be trimmed without much trouble and has a very calm personality. He also described Tang as a “biscuit-making machine,” often doing so while lying down and resting on his body.
Tang has quickly become a beloved presence in SUGA’s family. He shared that his parents are very fond of the cat because of its affectionate and cute nature. He also revealed that Jimin adores Tang and often plays with him, even though Jimin has a cat allergy, which makes things a bit difficult at times.
As the broadcast came to a close, SUGA thanked fans for their support and wished everyone good health during the winter. He also shared that he hopes to return for another livestream soon.
During his alternative service, SUGA was embroiled in a drunk driving incident when he was caught riding an e-scooter while intoxicated. The “Haeguem” rapper repeatedly apologized for his actions and promised to be more careful.
On the work front, BTS gears up for a busy 2026 as the group is set to make a comeback in March, followed by their largest world tour to date.
