Byeon Woo Seok recently sat down for an interview and shared candid insights into his life and career.
On May 22, The Lovely Runner actor appeared on the hit variety show You Quiz on the Block and talked to Yoo Jae Suk and Jo Seho about various things.
Byeon Woo Seok on First Love
When asked about his first love experience. He revealed that his first love was in middle school. He never confessed his feelings as he feared it would ruin their friendship. When asked how he would confess now, Byeon Woo Seok said he would directly say that he doesn’t see her as just a friend; can they start a relationship?
Career Milestones and Struggle
He also reflected on his career progress and expressed gratitude for his first leading role in a drama, Lovely Runner. He also disclosed that he has been receiving 10 to 20 times more scripts now. The 32-year-old actor credited his co-star Kim Hye Yoon for helping him immerse himself in the role and praised his parents for their unwavering support.
While talking to the hosts, he shared that Lovely Runner took three years to be created and he wasn’t the first choice for the role of Ryu Seon Jae. He shared, “I wasn’t well-known at the time,” and added, “So it seemed like the script went to other actors first. I am so grateful for getting the script. What was so amazing was that as soon as I read the script, I knew I absolutely wanted to do it.”
Unfortunately, Byeon Woo Seok also struggled in the beginning of his journey. He was cut from projects and has dealt with self-doubt. However, despite these challenges, he remained committed to his craft.
Childhood
Byeon Woo Seok revealed that he has been maintaining a strong bond with his parents and sister. He is close to his sister but struggles to express affection. She inspired him to pursue a career in modeling and acting. His parents were initially hesitant with his career choices but ended up supporting his dreams. Despite being 33, Byeon Woo Seok surprised the interviewer that he still affectionately kisses his parents. He said that it’s a habit he has never outgrown.
