Cha Eunwoo is taking his talents to the big screen, and his fans couldn’t be more excited.
The ASTRO member has joined the star-studded cast of the movie “First Ride” (working title), which also stars Kang Ha Neul, Kim Young Kwang, Kang Young Seok, and Han Sun Hwa.
On April 2, a fan spotted him filming the movie with the cast and shared it on social media. Later his agency Fantagio confirmed his starring role, stating, “Cha Eunwoo has recently confirmed his appearance in the film ‘First Ride’, which he had received an offer for. We sincerely appreciate the interest and love shown towards our artist Cha Eunwoo and ask for your continued support.”
Notably, this will be his first lead role in a movie, he has previously appeared in guest and supporting roles in two films including “Decibel” and “My Brilliant Life”.
“First Ride” tells the story of four men from different walks of life who have been dreaming of a wild adventure in Thailand since their school days. After years of saving, they embark on their first overseas trip, but things take an unexpected turn, leading to a series of thrilling and unpredictable events.
The “Squid Game” actor Kang Ha Neul is officially on board, and he will be starring alongside Cha Eunwoo for the first time.
The 28-year-old actor and K-pop idol is currently busy filming the Netflix series “The WONDERfools“, a supernatural comic action-adventure set in 1999. The story revolves around a group of ordinary locals in Haeseong City who gain superpowers and battle villains.
Cha Eunwoo plays Lee Woon Jung, a special-recruit civil servant from Seoul who lacks social skills but becomes a mysterious figure investigating unexplained disappearances.
He will share screen time with Park Eun-bin, who plays Chae Ni. Other notable cast members include Kim Hae Sook, Choi Dae Hoon, and Im Seong Jae.
The K-pop star was also approached for a lead role in Hong Sisters’ upcoming drama alongside Go Min Si. However, he declined the offer and now Lee Do Hyun is considered as his replacement.
Cha Eunwoo, who debuted as a member of ASTRO in 2016, has built a versatile career in both music and acting. He has won over international fans with his roles in popular dramas like “My ID is Gangnam Beauty”, “Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung”, “True Beauty”, and “A Good Day to Be a Dog”.
His latest project, “First Ride”, started filming last month. It is a joint production by Brain Shower and TH Story, with Showbox handling distribution.
