While it may be disheartening for some fans, this news is hardly a surprise. His agency, Fantagio, revealed that he will enlist in the military in July if his application for the military band is accepted.
On May 29, it was confirmed that the beloved singer and actor will begin his mandatory military service this summer. The Military Manpower Administration announced that Cha Eunwoo’s application for the Army band was accepted, and he will enlist in the military on July 28, 2025. He is expected to complete his military service on January 1, 2027.
After undergoing basic military training at a designated center, Cha Eunwoo will fulfill his duties as a member of the Republic of Korea (ROK) Army Military Band. This special unit allows individuals with musical and performance talents to contribute to the military through artistic activities.
As is standard practice for celebrity enlistments, Fantagio will likely keep the exact location and time of his enlistment private to prevent overcrowding and ensure safety. There will be no special public ceremonies for Cha Eunwoo’s military enlistment.
The “True Beauty” actor had previously applied for this specialized band and recently received his acceptance notice. He is the second ASTRO member after MJ to enlist in the military, member Jinjin is also scheduled to enlist this year.
