BLACKPINK’s Jisoo is making her acting comeback, and the latest stills are giving us a sneak peek into her dramatic character transformation.
On December 26, Coupang Play released “Newtopia” character stills on all social media channels.
The latest stills from the show offer a striking contrast between her character Young Joo’s beautiful college days and her desperate fight for survival during the zombie outbreak.
Once the revered “goddess of engineering” who turned heads on campus, Young Joo is now seen fleeing for her life, overcome with fear and tears as she navigates downtown Seoul, which has been overrun by zombies.
Armed with a golf club, Young-joo showcases her bravery as she battles to reach her boyfriend, Jae Yoon (Park Jeong Min). These stills have left viewers wondering if the two will be reunited amidst the chaos.
Coupang Play’s ‘Newtopia’ series follows the thrilling tale of soldier Jae Yoon and his fearless girlfriend Young Joo, played by Jisoo, as they fight to reunite amidst a zombie-infested downtown Seoul.
It is attracting significant attention from both domestic and international media, not only for being Coupang’s first-ever zombie drama but also because Jisoo is starring in it.
Jisoo said, “From the beginning, I was captivated by the charm of ‘Young Joo,’ and I developed a desire to portray the character well. I hope viewers can enjoy watching ‘Young Joo’ grow and evolve in various ways.”
Director Yoon Sung Hyun mentioned, “Jisoo’s quirkiness and humor matched 99% with the ‘Young Joo’ I envisioned in the script, and she expressed ‘Young Joo’ even better than I imagined.”
‘Newtopia’ will make its highly anticipated debut on Coupang Play at 8 p.m. on Friday, February 7, 2025.
