On September 2, SBS unveiled the script reading for the new rom-com featuring the lead stars, supporting actors, and production team. Would You Marry Me is directed by Song Hyun Wook (Serendipity’s Embrace, Walking on Thin Ice) and Hwang In Hyeok (Moonshine, Doctor Prisoner) and written by Lee Ha Na (Rookie Cops, Cunning Single Lady).

Would You Marry Me drama blends heartfelt romance with comedic charm in a “90-day fake marriage” premise.

‘Would You Marry Me’ Release Date

The romantic comedy Would You Marry Me, starring Choi Woo Shik and Jung So Min, will premiere on SBS in October, airing in the network’s coveted Friday-Saturday evening slot. The exact release date and streaming plans are yet to be announced by the production team.

Plot Overview

The series centers on a quirky “90-day fake marriage” setup. Kim Woo Joo (Choi Woo Shik) is the heir and marketing chief of Myeongsoondang, a historic bakery brand that has been a household name for over eight decades

His life is suddenly thrown into chaos when Yoo Me Ri (Jung So Min), a spirited and unconventional designer, proposes a fake marriage to secure a luxurious townhouse she wins by chance. Me Ri’s previous engagement ended in heartbreak and rental fraud, so she’s determined not to lose the opportunity again.

‘Would You Marry Me’ Cast and Characters

  • Choi Woo Shik (Parasite, Our Beloved Summer, and A Killer Paradox) plays Kim Woo Joo, the charismatic bakery heir.
  • Jung So Min, loved for roles in Love Next Door, Alchemy of Souls, and Because This Is My First Life, portrays Yoo Me Ri. She is a quirky and determined designer desperate to win a home.
  • Bae Na Ra as Baek Sang Hyun, a department store manager who observes the couple.
  • Shin Seul Ki as Yoon Jin Kyung, Woo Joo’s confidante and family doctor.
  • Seo Bum June as another Kim Woo Joo, Me Ri’s ex-fiancé with the same name.

Jung Ae Ri, Kim Young Min, Baek Ji Won, and Yoon Bok In complete the family circle.

Script Reading Session

Footage from the drama’s first table read shows Choi Woo Shik and Jung So Min immediately syncing as the pretend couple. Choi embraced his “bread spoon” heir persona, while Jung charmed the cast and crew with her lively portrayal of Yoo Me-ri. Their playful “tiki-taka” exchanges during the session hinted at the romantic synergy fans can expect on screen.
