Claudia Kim aka Kim Soo Hyun recalled being emotional on the final day of filming The Atypical Family.
She took on the role of Bok Dong-hee in The Atypical Family, a psychic who’s lost her flying abilities due to obesity.
Despite initial doubts, the 39-year-old actress connected with the character and bravely underwent a dramatic transformation, spending hours in makeup and overcoming claustrophobia to bring Dong-hee to life in a truly authentic way.
However, that’s not the only sacrifice she made, Claudia turned down a Hollywood role to star in The Atypical Family.
She was the first Korean actor to appear in a Marvel series and is still in high demand in Hollywood. When offered the role in The Atypical Family, she simultaneously received a casting call for a Hollywood film alongside renowned actors.
Yet, she promptly chose to play Bok Dong-hee without a moment of hesitation and doubt.
Regarding this, She shared, “The Korean market is the most important to me. I always wanted to be recognized in Korea.”
Claudia Kim, who is more famous internationally than domestically, is focusing on the Kdrama industry this year. She is set to star in the Netflix original series Gyeongseong Creature 2, premiering in the latter part of the year.
