EXO-Ls, don’t get your hopes up just yet!
EXO member D.O. revealed that a group comeback is unlikely to happen this year. Speaking in a recent interview, the K-pop idol dashed fans’ hopes of a new EXO release in 2025.
He sat down for an interview at a Seoul cafe to promote his upcoming movie “Secret: Untold Melody”. It is a fantasy romance film and a remake of the popular Taiwanese original. The story begins when Yu Jun (Doh Kyungsoo) and Jung Ah (Won Jin-ah) stumble upon each other in a hidden campus practice room. The movie hits theaters on January 27th.
During the interview, Doh Kyungsoo responded to a question about EXO’s future.
When asked if fans could expect to see the entire group perform together again, given that only Suho and Chanyeol participated in SM’s 30th-anniversary concert.
He reassured fans, saying, “We will start preparing for a full-group (activity) and you will be able to see it. So, I don’t think you need to worry.”
When asked if we could meet EXO this year, D.O. replied, “It’s not immediately this year, but you’ll be able to meet us at the closest possible time. We’ll start preparing from this year, considering our individual schedules.”
Regarding concerns about coordination difficulties due to different agencies, he shared, “Although our agencies are different, SM still handles and manages everything related to EXO. We’ll do it the same way as before, without any changes.”
The upcoming EXO comeback is set to be a memorable one as the group is likely to return as a 9-member boy band next year. Previously, Lay revealed that he is in talks with SM Entertainment to resume group activities.
While it is disappointing for EXO-Ls, they can support members’ solo endeavors and wait for the return of Kai and Sehun as they complete military service. Kai will be discharged in February and make a comeback in the first quarter of this year.
