DAY6’s Dowoon has found himself at the center of controversy after posting a video of himself practicing drums while wearing military pants on his personal social media account.
After the post went viral, some accused him of being insensitive to the current martial law and impeachment situation.
Although the post aimed to highlight his musical skills, it has ignited heated debate among netizens. Some claim he is being insensitive to the ongoing martial law and impeachment issues.
Dowoon is under fire from Korean netizens, who are accusing him of being tone-deaf and insensitive to the country’s current climate.
On December 9, JYP Entertainment released an official statement saying, “Recently, false information related to DAY6 member Dowoon has been indiscriminately spread and reproduced.”
The agency stated, “Regarding this matter, we will take a strong stance against all actions that spread and maliciously slander Day6 and its members with unfounded rumors.”
The statement continued, “If, after this notice, false information continues to be indiscriminately spread, reproducing rumors, or damaging the artist’s reputation and character, we will take strict legal action.”
South Korea’s President Yoon Suk Yeol declared martial law on December 3, but it was lifted just six hours later after the National Assembly passed a resolution against it. Since then, tens of thousands of people have taken to the streets in protest, demanding his resignation or impeachment.
In other news, DAY6 is set to hold a special concert ‘The Present” on December 20-21 at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul.
