Jang Ki Yong has confirmed talks for his next project. According to reports on Tuesday, the 33-year-old actor is set to star in the new drama The Law of the Line after the success of rom-com, Dynamite Kiss.

The Law of the Line is an office political noir that focuses on fierce power struggles inside a corporate workplace. The story follows a man with no family background, school ties, or connections.

Using only his sharp political sense, he challenges the hidden rules and hierarchy that control office life. Each episode deals with realistic workplace issues such as loyalty tests, promotion competition, performance reviews, and silent power plays.

Jang Ki Yong has been offered the lead role of Tak Do Il, the head of the central team at the Seoul branch of Nara Bank’s sales group. Tak Do Il is a graduate of a local university who entered the company through blind recruitment.

His situation changes after he helps catch a voice phishing criminal and receives praise from the bank president. Within a year, he was transferred to the Seoul headquarters. Over time, he becomes known as a “black tie wannabe” and grows into a key figure who influences power and promotions inside the company

The drama will be directed by Kim Sung Yong, who previously helmed The Veil, My Dearest, and Spring of Youth. Other casting details are still being finalized.

This project comes right after Jang Ki Yong’s successful return to romantic comedies with SBS’s 2025 drama Dynamite Kiss, which ended in December. In the series, he played Gong Ji Hyeok, a charming but distant consultant who falls in love with a woman pretending to be a married mother to get a job. While domestic ratings were modest, the finale recorded a nationwide average of 6.9 percent and peaked at 8.1 percent.

Internationally, the drama performed very well and topped Netflix’s global non-English TV chart for two consecutive weeks in December.

Before Dynamite Kiss, Jang Ki-yong starred in the 2024 fantasy drama The Atypical Family, his first major project after completing military service in early 2023. He is also well known for earlier works such as My Roommate Is a Gumiho and the Netflix film Sweet & Sour, which were released during his enlistment period.

Jang Ki Yong is moving away from romantic leads by choosing The Law of the Line as his possible next project.
