Global superstar Lisa of BLACKPINK is embarking on her next major acting venture. The 28-year-old Thai rapper, singer, and performer is set to star in and executive-produce a brand-new romantic comedy for Netflix. She will be teaming up with the creative forces behind hits like Set It Up and The White Lotus.

About Lisa’s Upcoming Rom-Com

The film reunites Lisa with David Bernad, an executive producer of HBO’s The White Lotus, where she made her acclaimed acting debut in the Thailand-set third season. According to sources, the two developed the film’s premise while working together. They bonded over a shared appreciation for the classic 1999 romantic comedy Notting Hill, starring Hollywood greats Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant.

Esteemed screenwriter Katie Silberman, known for Netflix’s popular rom-com Set It Up and the critically lauded Booksmart, has been tapped to write the script. Bernad will produce through his Middle Child Productions, with Silberman co-producing. Lisa and Alice Kang are attached as executive producers.

What is Notting Hill About?

The beloved 1999 hit Notting Hill was written by Richard Curtis and directed by Roger Michell. Notting Hill tells the story of an unlikely romance between two people from very different worlds. It follows William Thacker (Hugh Grant), a mild-mannered owner of a travel bookshop in London’s Notting Hill district. His ordinary life is turned upside down when the world’s most famous actress, Anna Scott (Julia Roberts), walks into his store.

Released in May 1999, the film was a critical darling, praised for its “genuine, engaging charm.” The film also performed brilliantly at the box office, earning $364 million worldwide on a $42 million budget, the highest-grossing British film of its time. It received three Golden Globe nominations, two BAFTA nominations, and won a British Comedy Award.

Lisa Is Expanding Hollywood Career

After splitting with YG in 2023, the “Rockstar” rapper is pursuing activities in acting and fashion. This Netflix feature adds to Lisa’s rapidly growing film and television portfolio:

In September last year, she signed with the premier talent agency WME (William Morris Endeavor) for worldwide representation in acting. Before that, she earned praise for her role as Mook, a wellness professional, in The White Lotus Season 3.

She is currently preparing to shoot TYGO, a new chapter in Netflix’s Extraction action franchise, which will be her first major film role.

Lisa’s music career continues to thrive in parallel. She released her debut solo album, Alter Ego, in February 2025, which debuted at No. 7 on the Billboard 200 chart. She is expected to release new music and go on a solo tour.

As a member of BLACKPINK, she recently concluded the group’s massive, stadium-filled Deadline World Tour on January 26, 2026. The group is also set to make a long-awaited comeback with a new mini-album, Deadline, on February 27.
