Baekhyun has become a million-seller four times in a row.
The EXO member has achieved a new career high aside from becoming a million-seller with his 5th mini-album, Essence of Reverie.
Released on May 19, the album already shattered multiple records and recorded the highest 1st-day sales by a solo K-pop artist this year. It sold more copies than BTS Jin’s Echo, G-Dragon’s Übermensch, and Jennie’s Ruby.
According to the Hanteo Chart on May 21, Baekhyun’s 5th mini-album, Essence of Reverie, surpassed 1 million sales in a mere 3 days. The album sold 784,921 copies on day 1, followed by 61,404 and 189,519 copies on day 2 and 3, respectively.
Notably, this is his fourth million-selling album after achieving the coveted status with 2nd EP, Delight, 3rd EP, Bambi, and previous release, Hello, World.
Baekhyun made a comeback around 8 months after his 4th mini-album, Hello, World, dropped in September last year. The album outsold Jimin’s MUSE and recorded the highest 1st-day sales by a K-pop soloist. While it took five days for Hello, World to hit 1 million sales, Essence of Reverie became a million-seller in 3 days.
Baekhyun’s solo career has been remarkably successful, as four out of five albums crossed the million-copy milestone. His latest release, Essence of Reverie, explores the delicate balance between reality and dreams.
The album debuted at No.2 on the Worldwide iTunes Album Chart and the double title track, Elevator and Chocolate, charted on global and domestic charts. Elevator recorded over 400K streams on Spotify on the first day.
Baekhyun has begun the promotions for his new release and will perform the new song, Elevator, on KBS’ Music Bank on May 23.
Meanwhile, Baekhyn will kick off his world tour, Reverie, on June 6-7 in Seoul, followed by the North American leg of the tour. HE will tour Mexico City, Newark, Rosemont, Sugar Land, Seattle, Oakland, and LA from June 20 to July 6.
