Kai returned to the music scene after two years!
The 31-year-old EXO member released his 4th mini-album “Wait On Me”, his first comeback after completing alternative service in February. He set the tone for his comeback with a pre-release of “Adult Swim” on April 3, followed by the release of the album on April 21.
The 7-track album contains a lead single of the same name and b-sides “Walls Don’t Talk”, “Ridin’”, “Pressure”, “Walls Don’t Talk”, “Off and Away”, and “Flight to Paris”.
Kai’s 4th mini-album “Wait On Me” sold 108,408 copies on the day of release. It is his lowest first-day sales, surpassed by his third mini-album “Rover” (167,817), debut EP “KAI” (167,249), and 2nd mini-album “PEACHES” (109,887).
The album debuted at #1 on the Worldwide iTunes Album Chart, and the title song “Wait on Me” entered the iTunes Top Song chart in 23 countries. It topped iTunes charts in Brazil, France, Oman, Mexico, Peru, Philippines, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Vietnam, Spain, Argentina, and more.
The song “Wait On Me” is a smooth Afrobeats track with a laid-back percussion groove and subtle synth strings that create a rising tension. The lyrics celebrate the beauty of emotions that reveal themselves over time, showing how waiting can be more meaningful than rushing.
A showcase was held at Yes24 Live Hall in Seoul and streamed globally via EXO’s official YouTube channel. The event featured live performances of the title track “Wait On Me” and the b-side “Adult Swim”, marking Kai’s first solo activities since his military enlistment in May 2023.
In other news, Kai will kick off his hugely anticipated Asia tour “KAION” with two-night shows in Seoul on May 17-18. Next, he will tour Kuala Lumpur (May 24), Macau (June 7), Jakarta (June 14), Singapore (June 21), Taipei (July 12), and more.
