Some fans of BTS’ Jungkook are calling for him to leave HYBE after the recent CEO appointment.
On November 26, it was announced that General Manager Shin Seon Jeong was appointed as the new CEO of BIGHIT MUSIC, the label managing BTS and TXT.
She has been part of Big Hit Entertainment (now HYBE) since 2010 and played a key role in the formation of the global K-pop group BTS and their early growth.
Shin has served HYBE in various roles since joining the agency over a decade ago. She was also the head of the T&D Division and oversaw the selection of trainees and the rookie development system.
Shin Seon Jeong also played a key role in the selection of BTS members and was in favor of Jimin joining the team.
Jungkook’s fans are sounding the alarm, worried that the leadership shakeup at HYBE will sabotage his career.
Stans who primarily support the 27-year-old BTS member as a solo artist are concerned that the new CEO will overshadow his achievements and instead favor Jimin with more opportunities and attention.
Some fans are suggesting that the new CEO may have already begun to overlook Jungkook’s achievements, which they feel were not properly highlighted recently.
Others are expressing frustration by sarcastically referring to her as the “head of DC Gallery,” implying that she is aware of, yet has done nothing to address, the hate campaigns targeting Jungkook on DC Inside.
Shin is also associated with the controversial internal monitoring report which made headlines last month for brutal criticism of K-pop idols and entertainment agencies.
“Jungkook Leave HYBE” is currently trending on X and his solo stans have been urging the global pop star to leave the agency.
In other news, Jungkook became the most nominated K-pop artist at the Billboard Music Awards 2024, earning a total of 6 nominations.
