On April 17, the Seoul Northern District Court’s 12th Civil Agreement Division, led by Presiding Judge Cho Seung Woo, ruled in favor of LOONA members HaSeul, YeoJin, Yves, Go Won, and Olivia Hye in their lawsuit against Blockberry Creative. The members had sought confirmation that their exclusive contracts were invalid.

While the court dismissed their main claims, they stated, “The exclusive contracts and supplementary agreements between the plaintiffs and the defendant are hereby confirmed to be invalid.”

Previously, nine LOONA members (excluding ViVi and HyunJin) had filed an injunction against Blockberry Creative to suspend their exclusive contracts, citing a collapse of trust. While Heejin, Kim Lip, Jinsoul, and Choerry won the injunction, HaSeul, YeoJin, Yves, Go Won, and Olivia Hye lost in January 2023 after the court considered changes to their contracts.

Following their loss in the injunction case, HaSeul, YeoJin, Yves, Go Won, and Olivia Hye appealed in June 2023. After an unfavorable ruling, they proceeded to file a lawsuit in August seeking confirmation that their exclusive contracts with Blockberry Creative were invalid.

LOONA’s issues with Blockberry Creative started with claims of mistreatment and unfair contracts that burdened the members with heavy debt. Things escalated when Chuu was removed from the group in 2022 and the members took legal action the following year. Fans showed their support by boycotting, which got intense enough to cancel the group’s planned comeback.

Five former LOONA members JinSoul, Kim Lip, HaSeul, Cheorry, and HeeJin formed ARTMS, and recently renewed contracts with MODHAUS. The other five members ViVi, HyunJin, Go Won, HyeJu, and YeoJin former Loossemble. The remaining members Yves and CHUU are pursuing solo activities in music, acting, and the entertainment fields.
