YG Entertainment has reportedly transferred the trademark rights for G-Dragon’s stage names, ‘G-Dragon’ and ‘GD’, to the artist himself. Notably, the transfer was made without any financial compensation.

TenAsia reported on August 1 that YG has given full ownership of his stage names to G-Dragon aka Kwon Ji Yong.

As an iconic figure, G-Dragon’s name has become synonymous with his artistic identity, it is a natural fit for him to own the rights to his stage name.

After parting ways with YG Entertainment and signing with Galaxy Corporation, the 35-year-old rapper is set to make a fresh start and release new music this year. With full ownership of his stage name, he’ll be able to use his stage name ‘G-Dragon’ to pursue solo activities with no hassle.

Both YG Entertainment and Galaxy Corporation have confirmed that trademark rights have been transferred.

Earlier today, it was speculated that he is set to make a comeback in October due to remarks from Park Myung Soo on his radio show. However, Galaxy Corporation denied the reports stating that the comeback date is not yet confirmed.

G-Dragon, a K-pop pioneer, debuted with Big Bang in 2006 and made history with his self-produced hits and captivating performances. He’s a cultural icon, influencing fashion, arts, and beyond.

After parting ways with Big Bang and ending his 23-year partnership with YG Entertainment in December 2023, G-Dragon joined Galaxy Corporation and is now preparing for a solo comeback in the second half of 2024.
