G-Dragon is returning to the limelight with solo music and other activities after a tumultuous year.
Last year, G-Dragon was embroiled in a drug use scandal but was later cleared of the allegations following a negative drug test.
As per reports, he was scheduled to release an album last year, but it got delayed due to the controversy.
This year, it is confirmed that he’ll release a new, long-awaited solo album and embark on a world tour.
On June 25, G-Dragon shared several photos from his Elle Korea photoshoot on social media, flaunting his fashion sense in multiple outfits.
In an interview conducted with the fashion magazine, he talked about his upcoming album, becoming a professor at KAIST, and his relationship with Chanel.
G-Dragon on Upcoming Album
The BIGBANG leader shared that he never stopped working on his new album and jokingly mentioned that if a gift were to fall from the sky, he would wish for ‘the finished album.’
He gave an update on how the album work is going, saying, Regarding album work, last year I was able to give an answer closer to an exclamation point, but now it’s closer to a question mark. ‘You can do it! ‘I have to do it!’ With the same confidence, I thought, ‘Jiyong, you can do it, right?’
He went on to say, It certainly seems like we’re on an uphill road now, but the important thing is that ‘the road always leads.’
When asked what kind of story he wants to tell through his music, he shared that he just wants to be ‘encouraged.’.
G-Dragon on Becoming Professor at KAIST
On June 5, G-Dragon was officially appointed as a visiting professor at KAIST’s Department of Mechanical Engineering. The Crooked rapper received his appointment letter at the ‘Innovate Korea 2024’ event.
He revealed being confused yet excited and compared visiting KAIST to taking a trip to an amusement park, When I looked around the mechanical engineering department, there were so many amazing things that I felt like I was in an amusement park.
He added, I thought that these students might be similar to my past self, and added, when I was alone in the practice room, thinking and learning, and exploring diligently through trial and error.
G-Dragon on Relationship with Chanel
G-Dragon has been associated with Chanel for a long time, and their partnership has grown and deepened over time.
He talked about how his relationship with Chanel is like his bond with music, Maybe it’s because I don’t consider this relationship to be work. Working on music is actually ‘work’, but I’ve been able to do it so far because I don’t think of it as work.
He added, My relationship with Chanel was also able to last like this because it was closer to friendship.
Lastly, G-Dragon signed with the new agency Galaxy Corporation in December 2023, and is now gearing up to make a solo comeback.
